Alhamdulillah, the community cleanup (Gotong Royong) event at Mataura Masjid on 22 February 2025 was a resounding success, bringing together members of the community for a day of service and camaraderie.
The day started off a bit moody with a short burst of rain, but by the will of Allah, the clouds cleared up and we were able to do the clean up as planned. It was great to see families gathered at the place, ready to contribute to the upkeep of our beloved masjid.
Members rolled up their sleeves and got to work, cleaning the masjid grounds, tidying up the prayer area, and ensuring that the environment was welcoming and ready for this holy month of Ramadan.
It was very heartwarming to feel the sense of unity here, as people of all ages came together, sharing laughter and stories while making a positive impact to the community.
For the children, the event was not just about cleaning; it was filled with joy and excitement. Fun games and activities were organized, allowing the kids to enjoy their day while learning the value of team work and community service. Their laughter echoed throughout the grounds, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
As the hard work came to a close, everyone gathered to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by dedicated volunteers. The meal was a delightful spread, offering a variety of dishes that catered to all tastes. My heartfelt thanks goes to these members for their generous contribution.
To end the session, we had a brief tazkirah by Brother Sofian about how to best prepare ourselves for this coming Ramadan.
